It has been a couple of years since I started my Breakthrough Blueprint Event.
It all came from a conversation with my friend Dan Sullivan, the founder of Strategic Coach. Dan was talking about "Unique Abilities," and the way he articulated it struck me. It was the first time I had heard him phrase it that way. He said,
"Your unique ability is the thing that would keep you motivated and fascinated for the next 25 years."
Immediately, I thought, you know what I really love? I love applying the 8 Profit Activators to various types of businesses. And I like doing it in a small group in an intimate setting where there's one conversation at a time, and you can see the whites of everybody's eyes. I never get tired of that because it's never the same twice.
The moment I got off the phone with Dan, I called the Celebration Hotel in Florida. I booked the boardroom and sent out an email to my list inviting the first group. Six weeks later, the Breakthrough Blueprint event took place. And I've been doing them ever since.
Nine of these events a year.
Now, the great thing about all of that is the framework: the setup for these events never changes.
It's the same 8 Profit Activators being applied to all sorts of businesses. It's always a small boardroom of 8 to 12 people, and it typically spans over a 3-day period. The people in the group change, but the context is always the same.
See, the 8 Profit Activators are universally present. They're a context. It was valid 30 years ago, and it will remain valid 30 years from now. However, what changes are all the opportunities we have to apply them.
In a way, it's like playing golf.
There are rules. There are 18 holes. But even if you play the same golf course every single day, you never have the same game twice.
The truth is that one of the most undervalued purposes in both business and life is consistency. Committing yourself to doing what most excites you for the next 25 years. Over and over. Year after year.
It sounds counterintuitive, yes.
But it's this kind of consistency that creates longevity.
