Podcasts are great…

They’re probably one of the best mediums to get your message out.

And it’s the number one tool to build trust and make people want to start working with you…

With every new episode that you record, you’re growing your asset of valuable content. You can then easily turn that content into emails, reports, books... you name it.

It doesn’t take long to get to this level, either...

10, 12, maybe 15 episodes in, and you’ve got a great “bingeable” thing for new people coming in. And you can direct their attention and trust in a direction that's going to move them towards taking the next step.

But here’s the thing…

One of the most common questions people ask me about podcasts is...

“How do I grow my podcast audience?”

Here’s my answer: You don’t.

What I mean by that is, your podcast is a lead conversion tool. Not a lead generation tool.

So I’d never recommend somebody to start a podcast if they don’t have an audience already.

See, I'd rather have an email subscriber than a podcast subscriber…

When all you do is buy ads to promote your podcast and drive people to iTunes to subscribe… you’re throwing your money away. Because you still don’t know who those people are.

Even if people subscribe to your podcast, they’re still invisible to you.

Instead, what you do want is... the names and email addresses of every single person who’s interested in your message and your offer.

That’s why, focus on getting people on your email list first....

Offer a free book, make people raise their hand, make them become visible to you. Only then tell them about your podcast…

All this to say...

Don’t worry about growing your podcast. Because it will grow. Organically, slowly and unpredictably…

But what will drive that growth is the people on your email list.

So focus on growing that first...
