Everybody’s had writer’s block a few times in their life. I know I have.
And it usually happens when you sit down and try to wiggle your way into writing something. So you get stuck…
But you don’t get stuck because you don’t have anything to say. It’s because while you’re trying to say it, you're obsessing over stuff like grammar, sounding smart... And all those other things that have nothing to do with what you want to say.
But you know what I never get?
Talker’s block.
You know, people are shocked when I tell them I don’t write any of my emails. And that all I do is talk.
But because I record my conversations and get them transcribed… a writer can then take those words, my words, and turn them into emails. Or articles. Or books. Or whatever...
The reality is, people don’t realize it’s OK to just do the talking. They think being an author means you also need to be a writer. But that’s simply not true...
Do you think all those celebrities who published a book… Do you think they wrote them? Most of them didn’t.
In fact, nobody’s writing books.
Gary Vaynerchuk doesn't write his books. Richard Branson doesn’t write his books. And Robert Kiyosaki doesn’t write his books either.
But what they all do is - they talk. And then, they hire a ghostwriter who turns their words into written stuff. That’s how it’s done.
Because here’s the thing...
Being an author is not about the words and doing the writing. It’s about the authorship of a concept, of an idea.
And if you have that great idea inside you, but you struggle to get it out and into a book...
Then stop writing it.
Instead, find somebody else to do the writing for you. So you can free yourself to do what you do best - talking.
