Horse for sale

Dean Jackson 2 min read

You know how the saying goes?

Sometimes, the best way to sell a horse is with a sign that says, "Horse for Sale."

I have no idea where I heard that first. But, whenever I’m promoting a new thing, that’s almost always the very first strategy I’ll try.

Now, the great thing about it is that... very often, the “horse for sale” strategy doesn’t require big marketing ideas. Because that very simplicity in itself is the big idea.

And for certain types of businesses, like fitness boot camps, workshops, or any other kind of business tied to a specific location…that strategy fits like a glove. Especially when you’re doing Facebook micro-targeting…

In fact, I treat Facebook micro-targeting campaigns like postcard campaigns…

Because just like postcards, you can target a one mile or two mile radius around your location and reach your prospects for very little money.

However, instead of mailing them a physical thing, you’re sending them a digital postcard to their news feed. And, instead of pictures, you can use video to enhance your message.

For example, if you have a fitness business, and you’re doing, say, workouts three times a week in the local park…

What you can do is, you record a video of the actually workout. You show people in the background having a good time, smiling and enjoying themselves. While at the same time, you’re there up front and say something like...

What you can do is, you record a video of the actually workout.

“Hi, I'm Dean and we're right here at Prospect Park, working out three times a week. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we're right here at five AM. We’d love you to come by. Download this free guest pass and come see what we're all about.”

See, the thing is… you’re not trying to convert someone from not wanting to exercise into start wanting it. You’re just trying to find those prospects who are already looking for it….

And sometimes, when people already know they want a horse, the best you can do is to just put a sign up that says, "Horse for Sale.”

Because all you want them to do is say, "Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's what I want. Yeah, that's what I want...”

So tell me, what’s your “Horse for sale” message?
