Many people talk about creating a 'lifestyle business'. But very few set out to find a business that meets that goal. The reason for that is, that a lifestyle business doesn't just happen. First, you must know what 'ideal lifestyle' means.
Then you have to plan it.
And then build it.
In other words, as with anything, you have to start with the end goal in mind.
But this time, the end goal is a 'happy you'.
So let me ask you this.
What would be a perfect business for you? Not what somebody else says it's a perfect business. But a business designed around your own criteria of what makes you happy.
The reason I ask?
Many entrepreneurs don't know the answer to that. They keep chasing the idea of a perfect business without ever realizing that it might not be correct. All because it's something society tells you to aspire to.
But here's the thing. I firmly believe that a business's purpose is to support you in the life you want to have. Because the most successful thing about life is having a life that makes you happy.
That's why it's important that you know what 'happy life' means to you And if you don't know it yet, here's a way you can start thinking about it today:
"I know I'm being successful when…"
How would you finish that sentence for yourself? Can you come up with ten things that would be true when you think of yourself as successful?
Being an entrepreneur is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself. It allows you to define your life and what you want your life to be and then build a business to support that life.
