I do a podcast with my friend Dan Sullivan called "The Joy Of Procrastination." And one of the things we talk about a lot is how Dan and his wife approach how they live their life in Toronto and Chicago.
Simply put, they (just like me) don't want to do anymore at home than they would if they lived at the Four Seasons. On our podcast, I told Dan we lovingly refer to our house in Florida as the Four Seasons Valhalla.
But here's why I'm bringing this up.
A great book called ''The One to One Future'' was written over 20 years ago. And it outlines all the possibilities for providing personalized service for a group of people. The book was really ahead of its time when it was written. Because if you read this book now, everything it describes is much easier to execute today than it was 20 years ago. But the main idea - that you should act as the advocate for your category - is still very valid.
In fact, that same idea is one of my main philosophies when it comes to 8 Profit Activators: To appoint yourself as the Mayor of your category. And one niche that screams for a mayor like that is the property management industry. Come to think of it, MOST industries are crying for a Mayor to come and take over.
And that's good news for you.
Because it means that your low-hanging fruit is simple: Focus 100% of your attention on absolutely falling in love with the people who live in your community and devote all your attention and intention to improving their lives. And you know what? The moment you start to up-level your game, instead of competing with the current standard, your competitors won't even know what hit them. Because you won't even be playing the same game anymore.
