Episode 102 at a glance: If We’re Living in a Simulation… This Is the Playbook. Key ideas illustrated as stick figures

Mid-1997 I filled thirty pages with affirmations of the life I wanted. Thirty years later almost all of it came true. Write down the simulation you want.

Do you think it's possible we're living in a simulation?

It's a funny thing to say out loud. But sit with it for a second.

I'm looking at my journal right now. Mid-1997.

And page after page after page of it is me experimenting with affirmations and visualization.

And wouldn't you know it... looking back, almost everything I wrote down came true.

I think there's really something to the idea that things get created twice.

First you imagine them. Then your subconscious quietly goes to work making them happen.

When I was growing up there was a guy in my town with a midnight blue Porsche 911.

I still remember the impact of it. That car spoke to me for some reason. The imprint never left.

So one of the affirmations on the page is exactly that. I drive a midnight blue Porsche 911.

And then the rest of them.

I work three days a week and travel once a month. My monthly income is fifty thousand dollars. I live in a great house in a gated community.

I weigh 185 pounds. I'm a scratch golfer. I'm a world class communicator. I invest my time creating incredible results.

Probably thirty pages of this journal are just those lines, said again and again.

And in between them, little vignettes. Scenes of the day I wanted.

Here's what amazes me thirty years later. The core path was already there.

I already knew the rhythm I wanted. The cadence of the day.

On the page I wake up and play nine holes in the morning. Come back and watch a little Regis and Kathie Lee.

Start working at ten. Go till about twelve thirty with no interruptions.

Which is still exactly how I do it now.

My key hours for creating are ten till noon. Those two hours are the most important thing.

And honestly, if you can just protect those two hours, so much comes out of them.

Then in the vision I get in the Porsche and drive to Barnes and Noble.

I used to love it. The comfy couches, the magazines, the coffee. Read for a couple of hours and come back.

Work till five thirty. Then go play the back nine.

Open with nine. Close with nine. The day in between.

And three day weekends. Mondays are always about making my life better.

Three focus days. Three free days. A buffer day.

That, to me, is the playbook for your own simulation.

I've talked to enough people and read enough of this to believe it. What you think about, you talk about. And what you talk about, you bring about.

You immerse yourself in the thoughts of the thing you're trying to create.

And what a fun game it is. Because you get to choose.

That's one of the great gifts of being a self-directed entrepreneur. You get to create exactly the life you want.

Dan Sullivan calls it the results economy. You're a hundred percent responsible for creating results in the world.

And there's enough evidence that just being clear on what you want, and writing it down, tilts the odds.

You're filing a flight plan. That's where you end up going.

Here's the funny part. We're eighty-something videos in, still in 1997, and we haven't even gotten to the internet yet.

Simulation theory didn't even exist yet.

But I think that's kind of what we're doing here. Living in our own simulation. So we may as well design the one we actually want.

It doesn't hurt. It's free to write it down.

And sometimes your brain quietly goes to work making it real.

So here's your nudge for today.

Write one ordinary day, hour by hour, exactly the way you'd want it.

Then watch how much of it is already inside your reach.

Do you think it's possible that we're living in a simulation? I mean, it's funny to say it, but I. Looking at my journal, so it's mid-1997 right now, and this journal, there's page after page after page of. I was starting to experiment with affirmations and visualization. And wouldn't you know, it, like, looking back at all of this, almost everything that I wrote down came true.

And I think there's really something to this idea of, you know, that things are created twice. You first imagine them in your mind and then your subconscious kind of goes to work making them happen. But I. One of the top things that I was thinking about here was I. When I was growing up, there was a guy in my town who had a Midnight Blue Porsche 911.

And I still remember the impact of this, like that was to me. That car spoke to me for some reason and I still remember the imprint. And I always wanted that as a. As a thing. And so I started writing out all of these things.

So I drive a Midnight Blue Porsche 911 was one of the affirmations here. I work three days a week and travel once a month. My monthly income is $50,000 a month. And so back, you know, it's 1997, looking at the things. I live in a great house in a gated community.

I weigh 185 pounds.

I'm a scratch golfer, I'm a world class communicator. I invest my time in creating incredible results. And I look at these things that, you know, I mean, there's probably 30 pages of this journal is just the repetition of saying those things and then writing these scenarios of vignettes of what I wanted my life to be, right? And I started thinking, I start just describing those days. And it's amazing how even to this day how similar the path is, right?

Like, I still spend a lot of time thinking about what I ideally want. But I'm amazed 30 years later that the core path of what I'm really desiring was already there. I already knew that I wanted to. The rhythm of my life to be around a. Around a specific cadence.

And so we've talked a lot about that, about the daily lifestyle, of my daily routine and how I'm currently kind of going through the zones of my days. But it's such a. Creating these vignettes of looking at the. The things like, you know, I wake up, I. In this vision, I played nine holes in the morning, I came back, I watched a little Regis and Kathie Lee Remember I mentioned before it was kind of like one of the anchor things.

I start working at 10am I go till about 12:30 with no interruptions, which is still exactly the way that I want to do it. Now my key times for creating are in the morning, 10am till noon. Those two hours are, are the most important for me. And by the way that's really if you can just get those two hours in the rest there's so much that can come from that. Then I get in my Porsche and I drive to Barnes and Noble for life.

I used to love to, to Barnes and Noble and used to be that they'd have comfy couches and you could go and sit and read and read magazines or have coffee and come back after a couple of hours. And then I go till 5:30 or so and then I go play the back nine. So start the day with nine, go through my day, play golf in the evening. And then you know, I have three day weekends. Mondays are always about making my life better.

So I have three focus days, three free days and a buffer day. And it's such a, I think that this really is like the, the playbook for your own simulation. I think that I've talked to enough people and I've read enough about personal development things that I'm a big believer that what you think about, you talk about and what you talk about, you bring about and you surrounding yourself, immersing yourself with the thoughts that you, that you're trying to create there. And it's so, I mean it's what a fun game it is, right? And you get to choose.

That's one of the great benefits of being a self directed entrepreneur, being a business owner is that you get to create exactly the life that you want. I can't imagine any other way than taking part in the, what Dan Sullivan calls the results economy where you're a hundred percent responsible for creating results in the world and there's enough evidence that at least being clear on what you want and then writing it down that the odds are much more likely that you are, you know, creating your flight plan that that's where you're going to where you're going to go.

And it's funny as we go here, you know, we're in, this is 1997, 87 or 88 videos now into this and we haven't even gotten to the Internet yet. You know, and it's so like it's such a funny thing because the whole idea of the simulation theory and all of that hasn't even been kind of born yet. But I really believe that that's kind of like what we're doing right now is we're, we're kind of living in our own simulation and we may as well create the vision and the things that we want. Doesn't hurt. It's free to write them down in your journal and sometimes you'd be surprised that your brain will go to work on trying to make them real.

And spoiler alert, a lot of these things are coming. Stay tuned. Every idea that I've had, every dollar that I've made over the last 30 years has gone through my brain, through my pen, onto a piece of paper in my journal before it went out into the real world. And if I can turn people onto that activity as a driver for what to do, what to think about, what to ask yourself to draw out, what the next most valuable action is for you and how to find the most profitable things that you can install in your business, I'm all for it. So this Friday at 1pm I'm going to do for the first time a 50 minute profit finder workshop and you're going to join me live on Zoom.

And we're going to go through a 50 minute exercise. Bring your pen, bring a notebook or piece of paper and I'm going to guide you through a thinking process that will help you identify where the lowest hanging fruit is in your business. And maybe some fruit that you didn't even know was there, but I'm going to show you where to look for it. So it's free. It's for you.

It's Friday at 1pm this Friday, just watch. Go to what did we call the website, Josh?

Just go to 50 minute profit finder.com and I'll get you all the details and hopefully you can join us then. Friday 1:00pm.
