There's never been a better time to be in most types of businesses.
From the outside, it may look like technology is making everything redundant. But the opportunities are much greater. I've been doing the Joy of Procrastination podcast with Dan Sullivan for a while now. And one of the things we talk about a lot is this very real migration happening in our society right now.
Have you noticed?
We're all moving to what I call Cloudlandia. Think about it, we're connected almost all of our waking hours. We're
online every minute of the day... and our attention is primarily focused on the cloud through the remote control of our life - the smartphone.
And while this migration will not stop (or reverse) any time soon, certain things still can only happen on the mainland.
For example, if you think in terms of your business: The lead generation, education, correspondence, sales, conversion, bookkeeping, and management still need to happen on the mainland. And guess what? This is where your biggest opportunities hide. One of the best exhibits I'm talking about is ghost restaurants. I'm sure you've heard me mention that before.
A company in New York runs nine restaurant brands out of one kitchen. But the peculiar thing is that they don't have any dining rooms. They only exist on Grubhub and Seamless. Which means, they only exist on the cloud, in Cloudlandia. The way they operate is they prepare the food in the one kitchen they have and then deliver it in packaging that corresponds with whatever brand it was ordered from.
It's simple. And it's easily scalable.
Because they figured out what aspects of their business make sense to digitize and what makes sense to leave on the mainland, They can now run almost an unlimited number of different restaurant brands with minimal costs. Because the truth is, even if the cloud is where we're all headed it's the connection between Cloudlandia and the mainland that will create the greatest opportunities for you. You need to figure out what aspect of your business has to happen on the mainland and what you can move to Cloudlandia ;)
