Every time I get Jennifer Elmslie's Halton Hills MarketWatch Update I smile.
I smile because she is consistently having a meaningful conversation with her MarketWatch subscribers. They can tell there is a real person behind her emails...and they are warming up to her with every email.
I don't know if anyone else is doing the "bonding" messages we talked about a few months ago consistnently. I saw a few of them from John Duncan and Michel Brossmer, and I'm not sure whether they've made it a routine.
If you're sending bonding messages...I'd love to see them.
I think we tend to gravitate toward people that are having meaningful conversations with us. That's why BLOGS have become so powerful.
There are a few websites I look to consistently...because of that meaningful conversation.
Several times a week I check out my favorites.
My friend Seth Godin has a great blog here and he's writing a new book called "All Marketers Are Liars" with a special blog here. (check out the post on supreme nuts just past half way down the page)
Seth introduced me to a couple of other blogs: Gaping Void, and English Cut.
English Cut is a blog by a "Saville Row" bespoke tailor. It's fascinating how something so boring on the surface can be made interesting through a personality coming through.
Anyway...check some of those links out.
Do your MarketWatch subscribers really know you?
Are they aware of the kinds of people you're helping every day?
Are they aware that you're here to help them?
Or, are you just the cause of those automated "Here's your property data for April 26th" emails they get every other day?
Meaningful conversations are powerful because they let people get to know you...and we all would prefer to work with someone we KNOW.
