Planning To Dominate

Profit Activator One says: Select a single target market at a time and plan to dominate it.

When most people hear me talking about that, they don't listen to what I say. They hear, "Focus on this tiny niche forever and ever." So they start worrying "It's too restrictive!" "I'm leaving too much money on the table!" "Everyone is my target market!" But the thing is, I'm not saying to focus only on one tiny niche. I suggest focusing on one niche at a time. And while you're doing it, plan to completely dominate it before you move on to the next one.

For example…

Let's say you're in real estate. And you operate in Winter Haven. In that case, "select one single market at a time" would mean you focus only on, say, lakefront homes to begin with. And the very foundational thing is to start looking at what's on the market right now. You start looking at what's available, who's buying, who's selling, and so on.

In other words, the basic thing to do when you start in a new target market is to focus on "surface" activities. Stuff that every other realtor focuses on, too. But here's the thing: The last part of the Profit Activator One says…

Plan to dominate.

If we return to the real estate example I mentioned earlier, this means you're looking to build and establish an "underground," invisible inventory of what's available. You don't just rely on what everyone else sees. You want access to what's coming on the market in the next year, two years, or three years.

Do you want to know that the landlord who has one unit on the market right now has 19 others that will become available at some point over the next 12 months, 24 months, or 36 months? In other words, "cracking the code" for a single target market doesn't mean doing what your competition is doing but doing it better.

It means you need to go below the surface. You need to build relationships with your prospects and become the mayor, the matchmaker, and the go-to person of that vertical. That's when you know you're "dominating a market."...

And that's how you know you're ready to move on to the next one. ;)
